Gio says Aaron Rodgers needs to retire and Jets need to blow it up: 'The experiment is dead'
The Jets, with everything on the line, came out with an epic dud on Sunday afternoon, getting blasted by Kyler Murray and the Cardinals to essentially end any hopes of a playoff berth in 2024.
Where does Gang Green go from here? Gio says it’s time to blow it all up, starting with the quarterback and general manager.
“On a long week, their season on the line, getting the paste knocked out of them against Arizona. Embarrassing,” Gio said.
“It’s over for the Jets. It’s officially over. Aaron Rodgers needs to retire after this season. Joe Douglas, as much as we like him, is not gonna be here. Jeff Ulbrich will be a linebackers coach or defensive coordinator somewhere else.”
Rodgers looked his age on Sunday, and the defense somehow looked even worse, allowing Murray to throw 17 straight completions while missed tackles were aplenty. It was an embarrassing showing by a team coming in with extra rest, off of a win, and with plenty to play for. Instead, it looked like the Jets had nothing to play for, and the brief and frustrating Rodgers era now needs to come to an end.
“It’s done. It’s over,” Gio said. “The experiment is dead, and it was as bad as it could have possibly gone. Worse than we ever could have imagined.”
