Boomer, citing all of the questions Zach Wilson has to face, from Joe Namath’s public criticism to Chiefs linebacker Willy Gay’s public criticism, expressed his sympathy for the former second overall pick.
“I know he makes millions of dollars, I understand that,” Boomer said. “But he’s still a human being. Can you not see the human side of things?”
Gio didn’t want to hear it.
“Of course I can. I also see the humans that are suffering in that building, and their jobs are on the line because he’s incompetent,” Gio said. “There’s also that human side. Robert Saleh, Joe Douglas, and all these other guys that might lose their jobs and livelihoods because this kid can’t play. So I do see the human side of it.
“How about the human side of us, that we have to talk about this crap every day because this kid can’t play?”
Boomer sympathized with Wilson for being in the New York spotlight during the social media era, something his generation of players didn’t have to deal with, but Gio was in no mood to give Wilson any passes on Friday.
“You are putting Zach Wilson’s mouth to your teat and breast feeding him,” Gio said.
