Gio explains why daunting start to Jets schedule is actually a good thing
Boomer and Gio agree that the early parts of the 2024 schedule are rough for the Jets, but even with three games in 11 days on the calendar to start the campaign, Gio says it is a good thing for the team.
“If you’re gonna have that, you want that in the beginning of the season,” Gio said. “To calm any of those concerns, if you’re gonna play one of the best teams in football, you get them Week 1. That’s what they’re doing with the 49ers.
“I would much rather have that stretch in the beginning of the year in September as opposed to November or December when you have to cram in three games in 11 days when you’re all banged up and tired over the course of a 17-game season.”
As for the Giants, Gio says the schedule has been very telling of how the team will do in recent years, and this schedule shows plenty of trouble through the middle of the schedule, as they will meet the likes of the Browns, Cowboys, Bengals, and Eagles in Weeks 3-7.
“A couple years ago when they made the playoffs, we said ‘there’s some games here where they can win a few in a row,’ and they did,” Gio said. “Last year, we looked at the beginning of the schedule and said ‘That is not a good situation for the Giants’…clearly, they were terrible.”
