Gio has little faith in Jets meeting expectations this season
As the Jets report for training camp, Gio wants to see good football in New York this season, but he doesn’t believe Gang Green will be able to provide it, at least not to the standards that are being set for the Jets this season.
Part of Gio’s concerns lie with the quarterback, as he believes Aaron Rodgers’ best days are behind him.
“There’s a lot of old players, including him,” Gio said. “You have an offensive line with a left tackle who never plays and is also old. You’re counting on a lot.
“The biggest concern for me would be Aaron Rodgers’ age and counting on him so much, Robert Saleh not being a good head coach, and Nathaniel Hackett essentially being a buffoon.”
Gio has little faith in Saleh, even less faith in the offensive coordinator, and doesn’t think Rodgers is good enough anymore to cover up that lack of leadership and creativity on the offensive side of the coaching staff. With all of that at play, he doesn’t see the Jets living up to expectations in 2024.
“The Jets tried to bring in an offensive guru that Nate Hackett would answer to, and couldn’t do it,” Gio said. “So that’s what will go wrong. Aaron Rodgers too old, dummy head coach, even dumber offensive coordinator.”
