Jets fans are flying high in their bye week, still riding the high of shocking the previously undefeated Eagles in comeback fashion.
The bye week provides a chance to assess where Gang Green stands at this point in the season, and while Gio doesn’t like raining on the parade, he believes the win over Philly has led to the Jets being “overrated” a bit through six games.
“If things had gone just slightly differently, and Zach Wilson got the ball in his hands, we’d be screaming about it in the bye week about how they can’t win with this guy,” Gio said. “I just feel like the end of that game just switched people’s opinions on what the Jets could do so much. I just caution people on that. That’s all. I don’t think what we saw at the end of that game proved much about the Jets ability to go on some sort of special run with Zach Wilson as their quarterback.”
The Jets schedule lightens up moving forward, and fans believe, if Wilson grows more comfortable to become a serviceable quarterback while the defense continues to thrive, there is a chance to do damage. But Gio isn’t seeing it.
“I just feel like they’re getting a little overrated right now at 3-3,” Gio said. “I don’t think the Jets will make the playoffs. I think they’ll finish 8-9.”
