Aaron Rodgers has committed to the Jets for multiple years to come, but Gio wonders if the expectations the team had heading into last season were the highest they will ever get in Rodgers’ tenure.
Given how disastrous last season went, Gio says the expectations don’t feel like Super Bowl or bust in New York, despite Rodgers saying that the team’s Super Bowl III trophy was looking lonely when he was introduced last year.
“Have the expectations changed for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets with everything that has gone on? It almost feels to me that - I said in year one, at the very least the championship game should be what you’re looking for - but with all the crap that has happened in this past year…I feel like the expectation is lowered, especially with what you see in the AFC and how they’re getting stronger,” Gio said.
“It doesn’t even feel like Super Bowl or bust anymore. It just feels like, have Aaron Rodgers stay healthy, have us play some really important games down the stretch, get into the playoffs, maybe win a playoff game, and I’ll be happy.”
