Gio: NFL teams have several voices helping make football decisions, except maybe Jets

Watching Offseason Hard Knocks on HBO, Gio is fascinated by the size of the Giants football staff and all that goes into player evaluation, transactional decisions, and overall input that comes to Joe Schoen before making a move.

Such is the case with nearly every team across the league, as coaching staffs, scouts, and other roles are loaded with personnel with differing levels of NFL experience. But Gio, perhaps a little tongue-in-cheek, believes that one team may be the exception.

“I think most teams in the NFL have a massive amount of scouts and people in a room,” Gio said. “I think it’s only the Jets who have the one person who runs the whole organization in Aaron Rodgers. There’s just one guy in the room.

“They have the smallest decision-making room in the NFL. Just the one guy. When he’s around.”

Many share that belief, convinced that Rodgers has been handed the keys to the franchise, hence additions like Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb to give the future Hall of Famer some familiar targets around him. Now, there are rumors that another former favorite target could be in the mix via blockbuster trade, and Boomer says if Rodgers is truly the de facto GM right now, a deal will get done.

“Then the question is,” Boomer said. “When is he gonna trade for Davante Adams?”
