As the Jets remain in the NFL spotlight for all the wrong reasons, Gio wondered if there was anything the team could do this offseason to change the tide and get fans excited for the upcoming season.
He came up empty.
“I don’t know if there is anything that can happen this offseason for the Jets to have a positive feel about the team going into the year,” Gio said. “Is there something they can do this offseason that is realistic that will get fans excited for the season to start? Davante Adams was one of those things. That’s not gonna happen…Mike Evans as a wide receiver? Is that gonna fire up the fanbase? Is there a draft pick?
“When you rebuild an offensive line, you hope it’s gonna work out. Laken Tomlinson was one of those guys you thought was an offensive lineman.
That didn’t work out.”
Simply put, there is nothing the Jets can do but begin next season with some wins to change the narrative around the team, in the wake of arguably the most disappointing season in franchise history.
“You have to get to September and win three of the four games that month for Jet fans to be excited about the season,” Gio said. “That sucks for them.”
