Gio warns Jets head coaching candidate to stay far away: 'Don't take that job'

As Bill Belichick settles in at his new job at UNC, reports over the weekend indicated that the legendary NFL coach had reached out to the Jets about coaching in New York, but Gang Green wasn’t interested.

Gio isn’t sure if he buys that Belichick would seek out a franchise that he has openly ridiculed given his relationship with owner Woody Johnson, but whoever is the next Jets head coach, he believes it will end like many of the others have in recent years.

“I cannot wait to see who the Jets hire. It's gonna be hilarious,” Gio said. “It's gonna be so funny, because they're just gonna do the same thing again…when we see them at training camp, we'll be like, we're gonna talk for three years, and that fourth year, you're not gonna be here. Sorry.
And it's not your fault.

“Everybody who comes in here, it's the same thing.”

Boomer brought up Aaron Glenn, a former Jet player who is currently the Lions defensive coordinator who would reportedly be very interested in taking over as Jets head coach. Boomer nominated him on Monday morning.

“Former Jet, former teammate of mine,” Boomer said. “He deserves a shot at being a head coach.”

Gio responded by issuing a warning to Glenn to stay as far away from MetLife Stadium as possible.

“If you have Aaron Glenn’s phone number, please give it to me so I can tell him to look elsewhere,” Gio said. “Because his career is gonna go off the rails if he comes here…fans have a positive memory of him. Just leave it alone. Don’t take that job.”
