In the wake of Zach Wilson reportedly being reluctant to take back the starting quarterback job for the Jets, Gio called out the former No. 2 overall pick’s attitude, which he says has been poor since the day he began his Gang Green tenure.
“He’s always had a bad attitude since the second he got here, from that press conference saying he didn’t let the defense down…and it’s still in there,” Gio said. “It’s almost like he never learned anything.”
Gio says it makes it look even worse for Wilson when considering how unconditional the organization’s support of Wilson has been over the past three years, despite being arguably the worst quarterback in football in that span while teammates celebrated Mike White getting the job over Wilson after he was benched last year. For him to not jump at the opportunity to start at quarterback for a team that has had his back publicly from his first NFL snap, Gio says is unforgivable.
“He stunk, and they stuck by him, kept throwing him out there, never said a bad thing about him publicly,” Gio said. “I don’t know where this goes, but I really don’t want to see Robert Saleh say Zach is the starting quarterback again.
“If anything about this is true…that to me says everything I need to know. That is the guillotine finally coming down. That’s it…he can’t be around.”
