2019 Starters Jonotthon Harrison, James Burgess Among 27 Cut by Jets on NFL Cutdown Day

The Jets have pared their roster down to 53 as of the 4 p.m. Saturday deadline, setting their initial squad with less than a week to go before NFL kickoff.

Perhaps the biggest surprise cut was offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison, who started 18 games at center over the last two years. Quarterback David Fales, who also was a starter for Gang Green at one point in 2019, was also let go after Joe Flacco was deemed healthy enough to be on the active roster.

Also among the surprises were linebacker James Burgess, who started the final 10 games for Gang Green last season, and wide receiver Donte Moncrief, who was recently signed as a free agent.

"It's the part of the business where it's not fun," Adam Gase told the Jets' website, "because guys have been invested in this, especially some guys, not only over years of work, some guys that might have been their first year here and invested all this time since the spring, obviously in an unusual year and now you have to tell them, 'Hey, we're going in a different direction.' "

The rest of the Jets cuts: quarterback Mike White; running back Josh Adams; wide receivers Lawrence Cager, George Campbell, Jehu Chesson, Jose Malone, and D.J. Montgomery; tight ends Daniel Brown, Bronson Kaufusi, and Ross Travis; offensive linemen Josh Andrews, Jared Hilbers, Corbin Kaufusi, Brad Lundblade, and Jimmy Murray; cornerbacks Javelin Guidry, Nate Hairston, Bryce Hall (who was kept on the reserve/non-football injury list), Lamar Jackson, and Zane Lewis; safeties Matthias Farley and Bennett Jackson; and defensive back Shyheim Carter.
