Jerry: Jets looking like a team that can beat anybody next season

Jerry Recco was burned around this time last year when he said the Jets looked like a team poised for a Super Bowl run thanks to the addition of Aaron Rodgers.

But Jerry is right back on the Gang Green hype train now that Rodgers is healthy and armed with a new, All-Pro left tackle in Tyron Smith, and a flashy WR2 in Mike Williams.

“The New York Jets are gonna win the damn Super Bowl,” Jerry said. “I know [Rodgers] didn’t play last year, but who knows? Maybe he’s better for it, and his body didn’t take a beating for a year, and he comes out firing…that’s why I love this team going into next season.

“This team is foundationally built on their draft picks…this is a team that was built ground up.”

The Jets have now complemented that young core with much-needed free agent additions, and given the landscape of the rest of the AFC, Jerry would put New York up against any other team right now.

“They’ve passed the Bills, they’ve passed the Dolphins…the Chiefs are still the team to beat, and the Ravens are damn good, I get that,” Jerry said. “But, if the Jets had a healthy season, or at least were healthy at the right time, you’re gonna tell me, especially after what I watched in the playoffs last year, that the Jets aren’t capable of beating the Chiefs or Ravens with a Hall of Fame quarterback and that defense?”
