Jets 2021 schedule highlighted by Sam Darnold and Panthers in Week 1

The Jets have their full schedule and Week 1 opponent, and it contains a familiar face.

When New York begins its new era with Zach Wilson potentially starting at quarterback, it will go up against the face of the era that the franchise just moved on from, with the Jets traveling to take on Sam Darnold and the Panthers on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 1 p.m.

With Wilson the likely starter for the Jets and Darnold likely starting Week 1 for Carolina, it looks like the season will get off to an interesting start, to say the least, with Darnold looking for revenge on the team that traded him to take Wilson, while Wilson will be looking to prove that Gang Green made the right move.

Another highlight of the season comes in Week 5, when the Jets will take on the Falcons in London just before their bye week in Week 6. Coming out of the bye will be New York’s second matchup with the Patriots (the first comes at home in Week 2), and there will be two straight NFC opponents in Weeks 13 and 14, with the Eagles and Saints coming to MetLife.

The Jets will take on Tom Brady and the defending Super Bowl champion Buccaneers in Week 17 before closing out the year in the first-ever Week 18 at Buffalo on Jan. 9.

Here is the full schedule for the Jets’ 2021 season, which was leaked before the NFL's schedule announcement on Wednesday night, which includes just one primetime game following a 2-14 campaign:
