Jihad Ward’s confrontation with Aaron Rodgers was the highlight of Hard Knocks this week, as the Giants linebacker and Jets quarterback got in each other’s faces and exchanged words during the preseason finale last weekend.
Rodgers took exception to Ward pushing him in the backfield long after Rodgers threw a pass, leading to Rodgers saying, “I don’t know who you are” before throwing a touchdown shortly after and finding Ward to warn him, “don’t poke the bear.”
Ward told reporters on Wednesday that his frustration with Rodgers and the Jets came after Randall Cobb was whistled for a blindside block, and Rodgers and teammates were seen on Hard Knocks laughing about a likely fine that was coming Cobb’s way. Ward said he felt the Jets were laughing as his teammate Bobby McCain suffered a concussion as a result of Cobb’s block.
In response to those accusations on Thursday, Rodgers adamantly opposed the idea that the Jets were laughing at an injury.
“So he thought we were laughing at his teammate?” Rodgers said, via the New York Post. “That never happened and I think he’s making s–t up.”
The Jets and Giants will meet again in October.
