Gio doesn’t need to hear Robert Saleh rip Zach Wilson publicly, but until the Jets can express some form of realism when it comes to Wilson’s capability as quarterback, he cannot take the team seriously.
“The Jets are the only ones in the world that think he can play,” Gio said. “There’s a still a chance they can be relevant because it’s early in the season. They won’t with Zach as the quarterback…yesterday was it for me, when Robert Saleh doubled and tripled down on Zach being the quarterback.
“I’m not saying there are great options out there. You get Chad Henne to say no to you. OK, who’s next? Tell me that you’re doing something, otherwise you’re not taking the season seriously. He’s that bad. If you’re not taking your season seriously, and he’s still your quarterback, then I can’t take it seriously.”
So, until the Jets make a change at quarterback, Gio doesn’t see how the Jets can be taken seriously.
