The Jets have made their pick with the second overall pick in the NFL Draft, with Darren Mougey and company prioritizing defense and pass rush with David Bailey.
The standout edge rusher from Texas Tech is considered by some to be the top talent available in the draft, and after the Raiders made their expected selection of quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick, the Jets pounced on Bailey, who was rumored to be the Jets' desired pick since before the start of the draft.
Bailey led the Big 12 in sacks and tackles for loss in 2025, breaking out with the Red Raiders after spending his first three collegiate seasons with Stanford. His 14.5 sacks last season equaled the total he produced in his entire tenure with Stanford, and his breakout campaign led to All-American honors.
The added pass rush should help a Jets defense that famously became the only team in league history to go a full season without an interception.
