Jets deal pass-rusher Jacob Martin to Broncos for 2024 pick swap

The New York Jets did not beef up their team ahead of the NFL Trade Deadline – but did get a little better in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Per multiple reports, the Jets are dealing pass-rusher Jacob Martin to the Denver Broncos, along with a 2024 fifth-round pick, in exchange for a 2024 fourth-rounder. It is not yet known whether that pick coming back to the Jets is Denver’s, or the one they acquired from Miami earlier in the day in the Bradley Chubb deal.

Martin, 26, was a sixth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2018, and signed a three-year deal worth $15.5 million with the Jets this past March. He had taken 28 percent of the Jets’ defense snaps through eight weeks, recording eight tackles, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.

He is expected to help fill the void of Chubb’s departure, and Martin could only cost the Broncos $1 million in base salary next year, as that is the only guaranteed money left on his deal. His three-year deal has a base salary of $1.035 million this year, $4.25 million in 2023, and $3.5 million in 2024, with his $3.465 million signing bonus, a pair of roster bonuses worth $1.25 million, and $3 million in possible incentives in 2024 making up the rest of his deal.
