As the Jets get set for the Cowboys in Week 2, Keith is worried the fanbase is not being realistic about the outlook for their team the rest of the way.
Mainly because Zach Wilson is not going to suddenly make the leap fans are hoping he will make, not after spending an abbreviated amount of time watching Aaron Rodgers work.
“I hope you understand that there’s no way Zach Wilson is ready to step in there and play at the level expected to take a team like this to the Promised Land,” Keith said. “Definitely not the Super Bowl, definitely not the playoffs. I don’t care what anyone has to say.
“If I see it, that’s the only way I’ll believe it.”
Jets fans came into the season with Super Bowl expectations, and those are hard to give up after just one game, but losing Aaron Rodgers means those expectations are out the window, and Keith says the fanbase needs to accept that reality.
“You all have seen Zach Wilson time and time again. There is not one game or one thing you have seen to make you believe this can happen,” Keith said. “You’re making yourself think it can happen, because you don’t want to give up, because of all the hype and anticipation for the season.”
