Both BT and Sal don’t have much hope for Sunday against the Cowboys, in what will be the Jets’ first game since losing Aaron Rodgers for the year.
But, regardless of how much Zach Wilson struggles in his first start of the season, they both agree that Jets fans need to get behind the former No. 2 overall pick when Gang Green returns home to host the Patriots in Week 3.
“Regardless of what happens this Sunday, that’s the one that Jets fans support Zach Wilson ahead of time,” Sal said. “I don’t care if he throws three picks against Dallas, this is a spot where the Jets fans need to…support him, even if he makes a mistake or throws a pick.
“Do whatever you can to help! You’re harming him by booing him. You’re making it more difficult for him. Let him breathe here…he needs it. You saw what happened in Philadelphia with Trea Turner.”
Turner has been back to his All-Star ways since Phillies fans banded together to cheer their badly slumping $300 million shortstop, and both BT and Sal want to see Jets fans do the same when the team returns home. The only issue is, BT isn’t sure if the long-suffering fanbase will be able to hide its frustrations.
“I don’t know if they’re capable of it,” BT admitted.
