The Jets could not have scripted a worse way to end the first half of Friday’s game against the rival Dolphins.

After a second interception in 65 seconds got the Jets the ball back with two seconds to go in the half, Gang Green went for a Hail Mary in the final play from scrimmage. Tim Boyle’s heave reached the end zone, but fell right into the hands of Miami safety Jevon Holland, and he returned it 99 yards to the house, turning a 10-6 lead into a 17-6 cushion for the Dolphins in an unprecedented turn of events.

The Jets had finally seemed to grab momentum with a pick six late in the first half, when they were showing no life on offense. The second pick seemed to secure a four-point deficit at worst heading into the half, but the Hail Mary pick six drastically changed the mood at MetLife Stadium.

The reaction from Robert Saleh was one of disbelief on the sideline after Holland ran the length of the field for the Miami score.
