Joe Douglas joined Carton and Roberts from Jets camp on Friday, and unsurprisingly, the talk began with Denzel Mims’ recent trade request.
“It’s a business,” Douglas said. “When things like that happen you don’t take it personally. Where we are in that room, we’re fortunate enough to have a lot of talented players in that room, and Denzel is one of them. He’s expressed his desire to be the guy.
“I love that kind of desire, that chip on your shoulder…we see the talent, and not every player’s path is a perfect straight line up. He’s come back from last year, he’s been in great shape, he’s busting his butt.”

So, Craig asked bluntly, will the Jets honor his trade request?
“At the end of the day, we’re gonna do what’s best for the organization,” Douglas said. “He’s on our 53 and he’s one of our better receivers. We’re gonna do what’s best for the organization.”
Douglas also discussed the starting quarterback situation for Week 1, the state of the offensive line, and much more. Listen to the full interview below!
