Keith: Joe Douglas deserves 'tip of the cap' for offseason moves so far

Keith has been critical of the Jets since their disastrous season last year, but he says Joe Douglas deserves some kudos for the moves the GM has made this offseason.

“You gotta tip your cap to Joe Douglas and the moves that he’s made,” Keith said. “I’m waiting for him next to bring in a wide receiver.”

Douglas has added John Simpson and Morgan Moses on the offensive line and cut ties with failed free agent signing C.J. Uzomah. He lost Bryce Huff, but did get C.J. Mosley to restructure his deal to free up cap space for other signings, which Keith believes could be used on a receiver.

A caller wondered, now that some offensive line moves have been made, if the Jets could take a strong pass-catching tight end with their first pick. But Keith says Douglas is too smart to do that.

“Taking a tight end at 10 is ridiculous,” Keith said. “Taking a tight end at 10 in this modern NFL, when you have Tyler Conklin and Jeremy Ruckert, you don’t take a Brock Bowers at 10. You take your future right tackle 10.”
