Zach Wilson went viral after last season when he told reporters he was going to make life “hell” for whatever veteran quarterback the Jets added in the offseason to replace him as the starter.
Turns out, that quarterback is future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers, which Joe Douglas says will be a heavenly experience for Wilson’s scuffling NFL career.
“I feel like this is gonna be a great thing for Zach,” Douglas said. “Zach's ceiling is unlimited. No one works harder, no one loves ball more than Zach Wilson.
“Him having the opportunity to really shadow and be with a first ballot Hall of fame quarterback every day, every hour that he’s in the building, that’s a great opportunity and a great experience.”
Wilson will begin the season as the Jets’ backup following two disappointing years after being taken second overall in the draft. Many Jets fans were ready to move on from Wilson entirely, but the Jets are still holding out hope that he will be able to become what they thought they drafted two years ago, and believe playing behind a Hall of Famer will help unlock that potential.
