The Jets’ pass rush plan for the season continues to unravel.
Less than a week after defensive end Carl Lawson was lost for the season due to an Achilles injury, fellow defensive end Vinny Curry is also lost for the year after New York placed the veteran on the reserve/non-football injury list on Tuesday, ending his season.
Curry won’t be eligible to return since he was placed on the list prior to rosters being cut down to 53 players, which doesn’t happen until next week.
Curry signed a one-year, $1.3 million deal this past offseason, and the 33-year-old underwent an undisclosed procedure prior to training camp, but head coach Robert Saleh had originally been optimistic that Curry would be available to return around Week 2 of the upcoming season. Instead, the New Jersey native won’t take the field in front of his hometown fans this season.
Curry spent eight of his nine NFL seasons with the Eagles, including last season, when he appeared in 11 games and made three starts, logging 3.0 sacks. He has 32.5 sacks in his career.
