This summer’s on-field LaFleur Family Reunion just got a little longer.
According to SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano, the Jets will hold joint practices with the Packers in Green Bay on August 18 and 19, ahead of their scheduled pre-season game on August 21.
Joint practices are a common practice in the preseason – the Giants are doing the same with the Browns before they play on August 22 – but this one has extra meaning: Packers head coach Matt LaFleur will get some extended time with younger brother Mike, who is set for his first season as Gang Green’s offensive coordinator, as well as Jets head coach Robert Saleh, who was the best man at Matt’s wedding and has been a close friend since the two were graduate assistants at Central Michigan.
The Jets face the Giants in their preseason opener on August 14, and after their trip to Green Bay, Gang Green finishes the shortened exhibition slate by hosting Philly on August 27.
