The Jets have now become even thinner on the offensive line, as tackle George Fant has been placed on IR, making him ineligible to return until at least Week 8.
Fant’s injury is the latest in a line of banged-up Gang Green offensive linemen. Mekhi Becton was lost for the season, necessitating the signing of Pro Bowler Duane Brown, who suffered an injury of his own and was placed on IR before the season. He is eligible to return next week.
Fant left Sunday’s game with continued knee issues, and was replaced by Conor McDermott. If Zach Wilson returns this weekend as the Jets hope, he will have considerably less protection in front of him than what the team envisioned before the season.
To make up for Fant’s loss, the Jets announced the signing of lineman Cedric Ogbuehi to the active roster. Fellow lineman Mike Remmers was signed to the practice squad.
