New York Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams had his felony weapons charges dismissed on Monday, exonerating him after his arrest at LaGuardia Airport back in March.

Williams, the Jets’ first-round pick in 2019, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon this past spring after gate agents at the Delta check-in counter found an unloaded Glock 19 handgun in his bag; the weapon was licensed in Alabama but not New York, so Williams was charged.

He was originally set to be arraigned in July, but that was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Williams’ attorney, Alex Spiro, maintained his client’s innocence all along.

“Mr. Williams respects and follows the law,” Spiro said after the incident. “There was allegedly a technical issue with the manner in which the lawfully owned firearm was stored — and we expect the matter to be resolved shortly.”

Williams’ arraignment was finally held on Monday, with the charges dismissed.
