The Jets reportedly have their quarterback for the 2025 season.
According to multiple reports, Gang Green has signed Justin Fields in day one of NFL free agency, locking up the team’s replacement for Aaron Rodgers, who is expected to sign with the Steelers, Fields’ former team.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the contract is for two years at $40 million.
Fields made six starts for Pittsburgh last season and appeared in 10 games, posting a 4-2 record while completing 106 of 161 passes for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception. The former 11th overall pick turned 26 years old last week.
Fields will likely be Gang Green’s stopgap solution as the new regime of Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey searches for the team’s long-term answer at quarterback, though Fields’ youth offers at least some potential upside that he can turn into something more than a bridge.
Fields holds a 61.1 completion percentage with 7,780 passing yards, 45 touchdowns, and 31 interceptions through four NFL seasons, three of them coming with the Bears. He led the league in yards per rushing attempt in 2022, and ran for five touchdowns last season as Russell Wilson’s backup.
