Brandon Tierney came in hot to open up Tuesday’s show in response to Robert Saleh’s public claim that he is “keeping receipts” of all those who “mock” the Jets’ current struggles, and will share them when the team turns things around.
“Receipts? I've got receipts too, coach,” BT said. “Receipts for jerseys for players who were busts, receipts for tickets for bad games, and beers I needed to get through them.”
But, surprisingly, BT quickly changed his tune. While he knows Saleh will have to back up his declaration, BT liked the fire from the second-year head coach.
“Wouldn’t you rather somebody embrace the failures, which have been passed on from generation to generation, and attack it head-on rather than act like a complete wuss,” BT said. “‘I gotta go back and look at the film. We’ve got to evaluate the players’ No, get up there, look us in the eye, tell us you’re not having it, and now let’s see you charge out of the tunnel on Sunday and beat the crap out of the Browns.”
BT may not have much of a problem with it, but he knows it will become a big problem if there aren’t any signs of improvement from Saleh’s team in the near future.
“I don’t have as much of an issue with it, as long as Robert Saleh understands what he just did,” Saleh said. “You cannot pledge an all gas no brakes mentality…it excited us, but then you can’t be surprised when we react to a product that was gasless.
“I expect the Jets to play a lot better this weekend against the Browns…and I expect the Jets to win some games this year. But if they don’t, you can take that quote and hang it on his tombstone, because he’ll be done.”
