Jets signing Trevor Siemian pending physical: Report

The Jets have reportedly signed a veteran quarterback to join the shorthanded group led by Zach Wilson.

According to reports, including Adam Schefter of ESPN, Gang Green is signing Trevor Siemian to the practice squad, pending a physical.

Gang Green has been looking for a quarterback to potentially back up Zach Wilson, so Siemian shouldn’t be expected to start any games any time soon, unless Wilson devolves even further. But Robert Saleh doubled down on his belief in Wilson as recently as Monday.

Siemian, a former seventh round pick out of Northwestern, has played six seasons in his NFL career, including making one start with the Jets in 2019. The bulk of his experience came with the Broncos from 2016-17, when he made 24 starts and posted a 59.3 completion percentage with 5,686 yards and 30 touchdowns against 24 interceptions.

Last year, Siemian made one start with the Bears and appeared in two games, throwing for 184 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
