Jets take Olu Fashanu with 11th pick after trading picks with Vikings

The Jets have added more protection for Aaron Rodgers.

With the 11th pick in Thursday’s NFL Draft, Gang Green selected Penn State offensive lineman Olu Fashanu, providing insurance for Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses, recently acquired linemen who have their share of injury concerns. The Jets had the No. 10 pick, but traded back to take the Vikings No. 11 pick, getting back picks 129 and 157 overall while also parting with the 203rd pick.

Offensive line was a big area of concern for the Jets last season, becoming apparent immediately when Rodgers was under pressure in Week 1 before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury just four snaps into the game.

The Jets were linked to tight end Brock Bowers, but the Jets instead elected to prioritize bolstering the protection around their future Hall of Fame quarterback.
