The Jets ruled out veteran offensive lineman Duane Brown out for Week 1 with a shoulder injury, and he is reportedly going to miss more than the season opener.
According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, the former Pro Bowler is being placed on IR, meaning he will miss at least four games to begin the season. Per Cimini, the Jets are hopeful Brown will be able to return after the first four weeks.
So, heading into the season, New York is already down starting right tackle Mekhi Becton for the year, his replacement in Brown for the first four weeks, and quarterback Zach Wilson for likely the first three weeks.
The injury means George Fant will likely be back at left tackle for a few weeks, but he has already expressed frustration of the constant position changes along the line that have resulted due to Becton’s injury, and now, Brown’s.
