Jets reportedly trade Mike Williams to Steelers for fifth-round pick

The Jets have reportedly traded Mike Williams to the Steelers, according to multiple reports, just hours ahead of the trade deadline.

Williams, acquired via a one-year deal in the offseason, was considered to be a strong trade candidate after Gang Green acquired star wideout Davante Adams, and that became a reality on Tuesday afternoon.

New York will get a 2025 fifth-round pick in return.

Williams is coming off of ACL surgery and has logged 166 yards with 12 receptions and no touchdowns in nine games (three starts) for the Jets. His role was diminished after Adams’ arrival, and now, he will likely get more touches with a Steelers team that sits in first place in the AFC North.

Aaron Rodgers was on his weekly appearance with the Pat McAfee Show when the news broke, and he spoke highly of Williams, who he called out for running the wrong route after a loss to the Bills in Week 6.

“He's been getting better every week and he'll be great in that Steelers locker room,” Rodgers said. “This is gonna give him more opportunities and we wish him well.”
