The Jets had nearly no uncertainty with their first pick on Thursday night, but their second carried plenty of intrigue.
New York traded up to 14th overall from 23rd in a deal with the Vikings, and Gang Green took offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker out of USC. The Jets, in addition to giving up their 23rd pick, also sent picks 66 and 86 to Minnesota, and got the 143rd overall pick in return.
In grabbing Vera-Tucker, the Jets have added protection for their new quarterback Zach Wilson, taken second overall, as expected.
Gang Green could also continue to bolster its line with its second round pick on Friday. The line currently consists of Vera-Tucker, Mekhi Becton, Connor McGovern, George Fant and either Alex Lewis or Greg Van Roten at right guard.
