Gio walked away from Sunday’s Jets win with a similar refrain as nearly every other game this season.
Where could Gang Green be if they had Aaron Rodgers playing quarterback instead of Zach Wilson?
“This is why it is so annoying that Zach Wilson is the quarterback,” Gio said. “Outside of the quarterback, this team is good.”
Gio, noting the struggles of the Bills and the Chiefs losing to the Broncos after nearly losing to the Jets, says the Jets would have had a real chance to make a deep run with Rodgers under center, but with Wilson, the outlook is not nearly as exciting.
“There’s really nobody out there taking the bull by the horns,” Gio said. “The Jets have as good weapons as anybody out there. Their defense is damn good…they’re right there. They’re in the conversation.
“If Aaron Rodgers were healthy and playing, they might have a shot at the one seed. That’s not an exaggeration…the difference between Aaron Rodgers and Zach Wilson is so great, and they’re 4-3 with Zach Wilson. They would be right there. We would be talking about a deep playoff run. They would at least be in the AFC Championship game.
“It’s a shame, and you keep being reminded of it.”
