Zach Wilson ready for season debut: 'I'm 100 percent. I'm ready to go'

Zach Wilson was practicing without any sleeve or brace on his knee on Wednesday, and says he is back to full strength heading into his hopeful season debut on Sunday.

“I’m 100 percent. I’m ready to go,” Wilson said. “Of course, the biggest thing is you haven’t played ball in a little bit. You’ve tried to replicate it as much as possible, so I’m just gonna have fun with the process and get back in it and do my best.”

Wilson missed extended time last season with a knee injury, and is now getting a late start to his sophomore season because of another knee injury. The hopeful franchise cornerstone hasn’t been able to show much growth as an NFL quarterback, mainly because he hasn’t been on the field.

“It’s frustrating, but I think everyone deals with injury,” Wilson said. “It’s how you handle it and prepare yourself to come back.”

But Wilson is now ready to put the idea of injury behind him when he suits up on Sunday, and says nothing will be holding him back from playing his usual, healthy style of football.

“I'm full go. I'm gonna be playing ball how I can,” Wilson said. “If somebody comes out, make somebody miss, get out on the edge, extend plays when I need to…have fun with it. Exactly how I should be.”
