Joe Benigno can't believe how different Jets look with Aaron Rodgers: 'He's changed everything'

Joe Benigno is used to lamenting the state of the Jets during his weekly appearances on the Evan and Tiki show, but on Friday afternoon, it was mainly positivity and gushing over the change in outlook for the pained franchise.

It’s mainly thanks to Aaron Rodgers, who looked locked in and in peak form in the Thursday night beatdown of the rival Patriots.

“He’s changed everything,” Joe said.

The defense and the pass rush looked improved, but the big story was Rodgers, who was suddenly moving like it was 2021, tossing dimes to multiple different receivers, and helping wideouts who looked washed a year ago suddenly return to form themselves.

“It’s amazing that Allen Lazard - who was a disaster last year - now that he has his buddy throwing to him, he looks like a different receiver,” Joe said, before giving Rodgers more flowers for his touchdown pass to Garrett Wilson.

“He wasn’t open at all...he forced it in there, and you couldn’t make a better throw than that. It’s just amazing.”

Joe saw Joe Namath play, and while he was the last - and only - Jets quarterback to win a Super Bowl, Joe says Rodgers looks like he is on another level, even after just three games.

“It was such a different game back in the 60s,” Joe said. “Joe was looking down the field all the time. He was looking for big plays. It’s not what you see from this guy. Namath had the quick release too, but it’s these quick, short passes...just finding these guys. It’s unbelievable. We’ve never seen quarterback play like this.”
