Joe Benigno went off on the Jets coaching staff on Saturday morning, after Gang Green was ripped by the Dolphins on Thanksgiving, and by the time his weekly spot with Evan and Tiki rolled around, he still wasn’t done fuming.
“I’m ticked off at my franchise. I’m so disgusted,” Joe said. “Nathaniel Hackett should be gone. If you’re telling me the offensive coordinator in Pittsburgh and Buffalo are gone, then Nathaniel Hackett should be gone. I understand they don’t have a quarterback, but the play calling is awful.
“I’m watching [Tommy] DeVito yesterday. The coaching difference between the Giants and Jets on offense is drastic. The more I think about it, as bad as Zach Wilson is, if you put Wilson with Shanahan or McVay or Andy Reid, maybe Mike Tomlin, Brian Daboll, we’re not looking at him as this brutal quarterback that he is. I guarantee he’s a lot better. He’s never been coached right. Hackett is terrible. Saleh is a defensive-minded coach.”
As for Robert Saleh, Joe can no longer give him the benefit of the doubt.
“I can’t defend him anymore,” Joe said. “I’ve been saying this since year one. He’s too nice. He doesn’t get in these guys’ faces.”
