Craig Carton is off Thursday and Friday, so on the first day of his hiatus, Evan’s old pal Joe Benigno hopped into the chair alongside Mr. Roberts for a Joe & Evan reunion.
And right out of the gate, he had some high expectations for the New York Jets now that we seem to know they’ll be opening the Aaron Rodgers era against the Bills on Monday Night Football:
“Opening day against Buffalo…coach, that’s a must-win, okay?” Benigno said. “It is a must f-ing win, there is no other way around it.”
Oh, and if that wasn’t enough…he had some high expectations for the other 17 games, too.
“If they’re playing four of the first five games at home, they need to win these games – and I need 13-4, division title, home playoff win,” he said. “You can’t sell me on 10-7, sneaking into the playoffs and losing a playoff game, and you can't sell me on 9-8 and not making the playoffs. This team has to win the division.”
It’s too bad Sal Licata will be in for Craig Friday, if only because it would be fun to hear Joe’s thoughts on it all once the NFL schedule in full is officially released at 8 p.m. Thursday night!
