Keith McPherson thinks the Jets can start 5-0? It's all about the revenge tour

Niners, Titans, Pats, Broncos, Vikings is the first five slate for the Jets, which in many previous years would lead Gang Green fans to pray for three wins, hope for two, and understand one is likely.

But this year, if they stay healthy, Keith McPherson believes they can start the season…5-0???

“Rob Saleh came from San Francisco and I’m sure he knows a couple things, and I would hope you have a little bit of an edge against your former team,” Keith said in defending a win in San Fran Week 1. “And, does Aaron Rodgers still resent them? That’s the team he rooted for as a kid, and when they drafted Alex Smith No. 1 that year, the chip on his shoulder grew – does he still have a bone to pick with them? He should from all the playoff exits they handed him, and he should be super fired up to return after only playing four plays last year.”

The Niners have some issues, too, with holdouts and whatever the heck Brandon Aiyuk is doing, and Breece Hall being Brock Purdy’s former teammate and a competitor, so hey, maybe the lightning strikes in Santa Clara. Oh, and maybe…

“If Haason Reddick is ready, if he shows up and if the Jets figure all that out, I think we all remember that NFC Championship Game two years ago where Reddick literally snapped Brock Purdy’s arm and sent the Eagles to the Super Bowl,” Keith said.

So that’s 1-0, and as for the rest?

“Week 1 and 2 are preseason in today’s NFL, and any given Sunday anything can happen, especially if the Jets are able to go on the road and beat the 49ers who have to have a Super Bowl hangover,” Keith said. “Without Hard Knocks here, they should have a better preseason, and if they beat the Niners, are they gonna go to Tennessee and lose to the Titans? No, so that’s 2-0 and you’re rolling, and you come home for a live crowd at JetLife, a night game where you can definitely beat the Patriots.”

Even a 3-0 start gets two big monkeys off the Jets’ back from previous years, so why not dream and keep the revenge tour rolling?

“The Denver Broncos, Nathaniel Hackett’s old crew, has Zach Wilson as QB2, and they should not beat the Jets, so that’s back-to-back home games you win,” Keith said. “And then Sam Darnold will host the Jets out in Minnesota, and I don’t care if they have Justin Jefferson, you have Sauce Gardner for that – so you should be 5-0 before your showdown with the Bills.”

It all hinges on Week 1 in San Fran, though, so let’s see what happens!
