Keith reacts to report of Woody Johnson wanting Aaron Rodgers benched: 'It's over'
Woody Johnson has been heavily criticized for the state of the Jets as the team goes into full rebuild mode once again, especially after a report by The Athletic detailed the Jets owner meddling in key personnel decisions and suggesting that the team benches Aaron Rodgers back in September.
But Keith says at least someone wondered if Rodgers was part of the problem, even before this season went completely off the rails.
“I’m not mad at Woody Johnson. You’re a bad man,” Keith said. “Badder than Aaron Rodgers. You had the guts to go in there and say ‘We should bench Aaron Rodgers.’
“Woody Johnson had the guts to go in there and recognize after losing 10-9 at home early in the season, a season where he said ‘This is the best team I’ve had in years’...Aaron Rodgers was supposed to be this savior. He is the song that never ends.”
Keith has been critical of Rodgers for much of his Jets tenure, and this season has only intensified that. The season is lost, the hype has quickly descended into disaster, and given the report by The Athletic, Keith doesn’t see any way that Rodgers is back in 2025.
“It’s over for Aaron Rodgers as well,” Keith said. “He’s not gonna play another year.”
