Dalvin Cook told reporters on Thursday that he plans on talking to his agent and the Jets about a potential trade as his workload continues to be limited in New York’s backfield.
If Keith were Joe Douglas, he would grant the Pro Bowler his wish, and ship him out.
“Well, trade him,” Keith said. “The trade deadline is four days away. Go ahead and trade him. I wouldn’t give him one handoff in this game. I wouldn’t play him. Go with Breece Hall and Michael Carter. You know those guys.
“Dalvin Cook is similar to a guy you just traded in Mecole Hardman. They came to play here with Aaron Rodgers, not Zach Wilson…might as well send Dalvin Cook somewhere.”
Cook will never get an RB1 workload with the Jets so long as Hall remains healthy, as Hall has emerged as a star in his return from ACL surgery, which cut short a season that seemed ticket for Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. Despite Cook’s success with the Vikings, Hall is the top option, and if Cook isn’t happy with his role, or lack thereof, Keith says he might as well be sent out for anything the Jets can get back in return.
“With those comments today, I feel like that guy is as good as gone,” Keith said. “He wants to get out of here. So send him anywhere for anything.”
