As the Jets continue to crumble and go down with Zach Wilson, who has finally been benched, Keith says the entire plan heading into the season has been exposed for its fragility.
“There is no road map,” Keith said. “This whole thing was a house of cards, and it crumbled four days in.
“They wanted to tell all of us Zach Wilson was ready, and he gives us the best chance to win, and all this other nonsense…it’s Week 12 now, man. There’s just nothing.”
Now, the Jets will try to talk themselves into believing that third-string quarterback Tim Boyle can help keep the season afloat, but for Keith, it only further illustrates just how unprepared the Jets were for the very possible scenario of a 39-year-old Aaron Rodgers missing time due to injury.
“I feel bad for Tim Boyle, because I don’t know what people are expecting out of him,” Keith said. “I think he can play better than Zach Wilson at times, but he’s not a more gifted athlete. The plan was never for this guy to take a snap this year.
“It’s disappointing, but shame on Joe Douglas. Shame on Robert Saleh. Shame on Woody Johnson…all the hype, all the ticket sales, you had Hard Knocks going on, and you made one mistake, and it was the - no pun intended - Achilles heel.”
