Sal called out Zach Wilson for once again showing no signs of progress in Sunday’s win over the Giants, but BT, a consistent Wilson supporter, didn’t see it that way.
Instead, he saw a coaching staff, and a wide receiver core outside of Garrett Wilson, that failed the former No. 2 overall pick.
“To denigrate Wilson without pointing out a single positive yesterday is lazy,” BT said. “No, he was not [awful]. And I got film to prove it…if you do watch it, I think you will learn something.”
BT pointed to the big throws Wilson made down the field in crunch time, including a heave to Allen Lazard to set up the game-tying field goal with one second left in regulation. He also fired a completion to Garrett Wilson for a first down in overtime while taking a heavy hit in the pocket. Still, it was the lowest completion percentage of his season, but BT saw enough to believe that Wilson will continue to improve, as long as the Jets help him along.
“When they have to score, or they have to move the ball…doesn’t Zach Wilson look decent? He does,” BT said.
“[Garrett] Wilson is amazing, but Lazard stinks. He drops the ball two times every week, he gets no separation. They gotta make some trades.”
