McMonigle: Jets young talent regressing around 'inaccurate' Aaron Rodgers
Chris McMonigle agrees with the large contingent of Jets fans who put the team’s current struggles mainly at the feet of head coach Robert Saleh.
But when it comes to Gang Green’s Week 5 loss to the Vikings in London, he says the blame should be directed at the future Hall of Fame quarterback.
“I put less blame on [Saleh] than I do on the quarterback and [Nathaniel] Hackett,” C-Mac said. “If you want to talk about Aaron Rodgers and how this offense runs and looks...which looks like a cruel joke right now...finally beating the Patriots and watching Aaron Rodgers play like that, and thinking they were gonna build on this, instead, it looks like something you’re never gonna see again.
“He’s as inaccurate as I’ve ever seen him. I didn’t see that coming.”
Rodgers threw 54 passes on Sunday and completed just 29, while throwing three picks, one of them resulting in a touchdown shortly after. The 40-year-old didn’t look good against the Broncos in Week 4, and his performance on Sunday only intensified C-Mac’s concerns about what this means for the Jet season.
“Did I think that, into Week 5, with this offense and his hand-picked coach, a guy who he won MVPs with...that I would continually see him as off page as he is with his wide receivers right now?” C-Mac said. “No, I did not.”
