McMonigle rips Jets for 'absolutely hideous' decision to move on from Aaron Rodgers

Chris McMonigle had been clamoring for weeks, perhaps months, that the best course of action for the new Jets regime was to keep Aaron Rodgers as the starting quarterback for 2025.

When Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey got the jobs, C-Mac maintained that they needed to stick with the future Hall of Famer under center.

Now that it has been revealed that the Jets are not bringing Rodgers back, McMonigle was ready to sound off on the decision by the new leadership group after the news broke on Sunday.

“I think it is an absolutely hideous decision,” C-Mac said. “I don’t understand it at all.

“Who else is gonna play quarterback? Should we start there? it’s kind of bene reported that Tyrod Taylor could be the starting quarterback moving forward. This team is talented enough that where if Aaron Glenn is going to be the coach and leader we think he can be…with this roster and with that quarterback, this team can be far better.”

C-Mac believes the majority of the Jets roster is ready to make a push to finally end the team’s playoff drought, but with Rodgers not at quarterback, next year’s team figures to take a major step back.

“This team needs to win football games, plain and simple,” C-Mac said. “This head coach, who everyone loves right now, wait until he gets into a year and is dealing with everything that comes with being the Jets head coach…wait until he gets underway with a team that is unhappy about losing the quarterback.

“They need a positive season for this young, rookie head coach and young GM…they need stability, and for all the stuff that Aron Rodgers brings with him that is outside of football, he does bring stability at the most important position in football.”
