Deebo Samuel told the 49ers that he would like to be traded, and within minutes, Mekhi Becton was hot on the recruiting trail.
The Jets offensive lineman quote tweeted multiple tweets announcing the news of the star wide receiver wanting out of San Francisco, then tweeted directly at Samuel with a little piece of New York flair.
Tagging Samuel’s account in the tweet, Becton posted a GIF of the famous “Bing Bong!” clip from Sidetalk NYC, which captured a fan making that sound after the Knicks season opener against the Celtics last year. That clip quickly went viral and became the team, and the city’s rallying cry, and now it is Becton’s cry for trying to lure Samuel to the Jets.
Of course, it isn’t all up to Samuel, as he will now look to be traded, but if there is a team in position to make a big splash for a star wide receeiver and follow that up with a big contract, it’s the Jets. They were heavily in on the Tyreek Hill sweepstakes before he went to Miami, and Samuel would be one heck of a consolation prize.
