Aaron Rodgers has been activated to the 53-man roster despite being ruled out for the rest of the season, with head coach Robert Saleh telling reporters that it is part of the quarterback’s continued rehab process from Achilles surgery.
As a result, fullback Nick Bawden was released on Wednesday, prompting a fiery rant from Shaun Morash, who went off on Rodgers for taking a spot from a Jet more deserving, and one who can actually play this season.
“This is why Rodgers is a pig,” Morash said. “This self-fulfilling, selfish, manipulating, dare I say monster now, is potentially going to take a roster check away from Nick Bawden for the final three weeks, who did nothing but be a good Jet all year.”
Bawden will actually be added to the practice squad by New York, and likely elevated when he recovers from a knee injury, and was guaranteed his salary for the year after Week 1, according to ESPN’s Rich Cimini. But Morash says Rodgers’ activation has a domino effect that could impact another player on the practice squad, even if Bawden isn’t impacted financially.
“Even if Bawden goes to the practice squad and then gets elevated, guess what? Some guy now before the holidays is going to get waived off the practice squad and lose his practice squad checks because your quarterback that’s done nothing for you is a selfish pig and has no reason being activated on this roster for three weeks,” Morash said. “He’s got no reason to be on the roster, and now somebody’s losing their job because he’s a pig!
“Do you think three weeks of him practicing and throwing a couple passes to Allen Lazard is going to have any impact on August and September if he’s not playing in the games? He doesn’t need to be activated and take a job from someone. He is a manipulating pig! This should be the time you finally see it!”
