Tim Tebow never wavered from being a choir boy, even in the huddle.
Former Jets offensive lineman Nick Mangold confirmed as much during an appearance on the “Endless Hustle” podcast when he told a story of how Tebow refused to curse, even if a curse word was in the name of a play.
“We had a play that was Y Oh S—t screen,” Mangold said. “It was where the tight end fakes where he fell down on a running play, hops back up and throw it over to the tight end and [he’s] usually wide open.
“And he comes in, he was the backup quarterback so he’d run one or two plays each week, so he comes in, he’s got the script, and starts reading it. He goes through the whole formation and gets to the last play and goes, “Y – alright screen. You guys know what it is.’ And we’re like, ‘No Tim, what is it?’ Then he goes, ‘No, I’m not going to say it.’ I don’t know what the play is then. You got to be able to say it.
“I mean, I think we ended up getting yelled at for that because we were taking forever in the huddle … so I found that to be pretty funny.”
Tebow, who played his final season in the NFL with the Jets in 2012, isn’t the only quarterback who has a clean tongue. Indianapolis Colts quarterback Philip Rivers is famously known for never cursing, even on the field despite his fiery demeanor.
Whatever your feelings are on Tebow, it is hard to deny that he is at least genuine.
