Peter Schwartz, filling in for Jerry on Wednesday, told Boomer and Gio that he would rather the Jets go winless the entire year than to see Tom Brady come out of retirement to try and save Gang Green’s season.
“I don’t care if he wanted to play for the Jets, I wouldn’t want him to play for the Jets,” Schwartz said. “I’d rather go 0-17 than watch that man…He caused me too much grief…I had no problem with Wade Boggs and Roger Clemens putting on a Yankee uniform, because they didn’t cause me any grief playing for the Red Sox.
“I can’t forget about all the drama a guy caused me in my life. I can’t do that.”
Gio wasn’t buying it for a second, and from experience, can say that any personal grudge against a player who tormented a fan’s favorite team would be forgotten as soon as that player began winning games.
“You’re so full of it, Peter. The season being dead in October as opposed to the greatest player to ever play the position putting on your uniform?” Gio said.
“Initially, when Brett Favre went to the Vikings, I hated it, because I didn’t like the guy. All of a sudden, I loved it, because he was winning games.”
